The Iranian regime has sentenced a pregnant Kurdish woman to death, on charges of setting fire to a picture of Khomeini, and she is facing imminent execution, and the United Nations Human Rights Council has called for urgent action to save her.

In the context, the International Federation of Journalists criticized the widespread arrests of protesters in Iran, and demanded the release of thirty-three Iranian journalists who are still in prison. Some of them were sentenced to harsh sentences.

Referring to the eighteen-year prison sentence (18) for journalist and satirist Ehsan Berbernash, the report called on Iran to release imprisoned journalists and guarantee the free flow of information in the country.

An American decision praises the courage of the protesters

The US House of Representatives voted on a resolution that commends the courage and determination of the men and women of Iran, who are demonstrating in more than 133 cities, risking their safety to speak out against the Iranian regime’s human rights abuses.

And the chairman of the US House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, Michael McCaul, declared his pride that the bipartisan resolution again passed with an overwhelming majority in the House of Representatives.

He pointed out that this decision strongly reaffirms the support of the American people for the Iranian people, who speak out against human rights violations committed by their country’s regime.

McCall stressed the need to continue to do more to support the Iranian people’s right to self-determination and to ensure that the regime is held accountable for its crimes, pointing to the necessity of not easing US sanctions against the regime and the full implementation of all current sanctions.

Republic of executions

Mahmoud Murad Khani, the nephew of Iran’s guide, Ali Khamenei, said in a press conference that Iran, under this regime, has turned into a republic of executions, and that the popular protests came as a result of years of repression and the absence of opposition, because most Iranians did not accept this regime since its establishment.
