Great sadness among Chinese youth after the news spread that the famous video game “World of Warcraft” had been discontinued in their country.

The game has been very popular all over the world, especially in the first decade of the twenty-first century, and it is a multiplayer online game that takes place in a fantasy world inspired by the Middle Ages.

Chinese “World of Warcraft” players expressed their sadness a few hours before the famous video game was suspended in their country after a dispute between the American development company “Blizzard” and its local partner, “NetEase”.

And the two companies announced in November, after a partnership that lasted 14 years, that negotiations to renew operating contracts had not reached a satisfactory conclusion.

It is expected that the same fate will be met with other famous games that are among the most prominent in the world in this sector, including “Overwatch”, “Diablo 3” and “Hearthstone”.

Another saw that it was “not just a game”, but “they were also the memories of the youth of a whole generation” of Chinese.

Blizzard has provided its games in China since 2008 in cooperation with the giant Chinese Internet company, NetEase, as the Beijing authorities obligated foreign developers to cooperate with a local partner if they wanted to enter the Chinese market.

The Chinese servers for “World of Warcraft” and other games will be shut down on Tuesday.

The recent period witnessed a sharp rise in tension between Beijing and Washington over a wide range of issues such as trade and Taiwan, in addition to the US National Defense Authorization Act adopted by President Joe Biden last December, which increases military aid to Taiwan.
