The Academy of Image Arts and Sciences, which specializes in distributing the Oscars, announced that the nominations will be shown for the first time in the virtual reality feature through Metaverse’s Horizon Worlds.

This afternoon, the nominations for the official awards for the year 2023 will be announced in the 95th session, through a live broadcast on the official website of the Academy and its official pages on social media.

The live broadcast will be presented by international actress Allison Williams, and international actor of Pakistani origin, Riz Ahmed.

The 2023 Academy Awards ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theater on Monday, March 13, and will start at 8 pm local time, i.e. 3 am Cairo time, and the ceremony will be broadcast in 200 regions around the world.

On the other hand, critic Osama Abdel-Fattah had revealed that no Egyptian film had been nominated for the Oscar for Best Foreign Film to represent Egypt in the 95th edition of the Oscar Awards, according to the decision of the Oscar-nominated Egyptian Film Selection Committee, at its meeting a while ago.

In a related context, Jordan nominated the Jordanian feature film “Farha” by director Darine Salam, to officially represent the Kingdom in the 95th Academy Awards, to compete for the international feature film category for the year 2023, where the selection fell on the film, which was filmed entirely in Jordan in 2019, during An independent committee consisting of 6 members, all of whom are Jordanian experts and professionals concerned with the audio-visual sector.

The film is starring Ashraf Barhoum, Ali Suleiman, Samira Al-Assir, Firas Taibah, Majd Eid, and rising actress Karam Taher in her first acting experience. Palestine in 1948, alone in her deserted village, living an experience that changes her life as her dream shifts from getting an education to staying alive.
