After regaining access to his Twitter account, Facebook and the popular photo application Instagram restored the accounts of former US President Donald Trump, according to Al-Arabiya / Al-Hadath correspondent in Washington.

For his part, Trump commented on Meta’s announcement of lifting the ban imposed on him for two years, on Wednesday, and said, “Preventing an American president from using Facebook should not happen again.”

“Facebook, which has lost billions of dollars in value since banning your favorite president, who is me, has just announced that it will reactivate my account,” he said on his website, Truth Social.

He also added, “Something like this should not happen again to a president during his term, or any other person who does not deserve punishment.”

The new owner and CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk, announced in a tweet last November that he would restore former President Donald Trump’s Twitter account.

Solicitation is formal

Trump’s campaign had earlier submitted a formal petition to Facebook’s parent company to unblock his account there, after regaining access to his Twitter account.

The Trump campaign has not threatened a lawsuit. Instead, she spoke of the importance of free speech and petitioned Meta for a “meeting to discuss President Trump’s immediate reinstatement of the platform.”

While the Financial Times reported early this month, Meta is preparing to make a decisive decision regarding former US President Donald Trump’s return to Facebook.
