Vienna, January 25 (BNA): Colonel Ahmed Saad Al-Rumaihi, Director of the Anti-Cybercrime Department at the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, headed the Ministry of Interior delegation participating in the meeting of the United Nations committee ad hoc to draft a comprehensive international agreement on combating the use of information and communication technology for criminal purposes at the United Nations Office. United Nations in Vienna, from 9 to 20 January 2023.

The agenda of the fourth session of the Committee’s work included reviewing the third consultation report of the Committee’s work, in addition to examining the standard negotiating document on general provisions and provisions related to criminalization, procedural measures and law enforcement on the International Convention against the Use of Information and Communication Technologies for Criminal Purposes.

During the opening session of the committee’s work, Colonel Al-Rumaihi delivered a speech that included the Ministry of Interior’s views on the unified negotiation document on the international agreement, including cyber challenges and risks, emerging cybercrimes and their association with cross-border criminal activities through information technology and modern technology.

This international committee is convened as mandated by the United Nations General Assembly, supervised and organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and with the wide participation of governmental experts in this field from various countries of the world, in order to prepare and draft a comprehensive international convention against the use of information and communication technology for criminal purposes.

The delegation included Captain Rashid Al Mahmoud and Captain Turki Al Thawadi, representatives of the General Department of Investigation and Criminal Evidence.
