First, we hasten to say that the nuclear agreement, although it has become somewhat lagging behind the technical developments and leaps that Iran has achieved in its nuclear program through the violations it has committed for two consecutive years, under the guise of differences over the method of returning to the agreement, is still on the agenda of the international community. At least the West, who has no choice but to cling to the principle of returning to the negotiating table and agreeing as soon as possible with Tehran to return to the 2015 agreement, with the hope of stopping the major transgressions that Iran has made in terms of developing its capabilities to enrich larger quantities of uranium by more than 60 percent and perhaps more. As Tehran is now able to reach more than 90 percent, which is the percentage of military use. Of course, it is well known that the 60 percent enrichment rate is not intended for any use of a peaceful, civil nature.
And if Tehran had evaded its responsibilities in accepting the European offer made by the European Union’s foreign and security policy official, Josep Borrell, last July, under the first pretext summed up in the Iranian authorities’ insistence on removing the Americans from the “Revolutionary Guard” and its institutions from the lists of terrorism, and thus removing Sanctions against him, and then, at a later stage, through Tehran’s refusal to provide satisfactory answers to questions posed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) related to finding enriched uranium residues in three sites not declared by Tehran. This raised suspicions that Iran is running a military nuclear program. In any case, everything stopped by the following September, and then Iran entered into a major and deep crisis due to the explosion of a massive wave of protests against the regime after the “morality police” killed the girl, Mahsa Amini, and then confronted the women’s and youth protests in various parts of Iran with bloody violence. Excessive, as more than 500 people were killed by the “Basij” forces of the “Revolutionary Guard”.
The important thing is that recently, there has been renewed talk in international circles about the possibility of managing the communications engines regarding the nuclear agreement with Iran. However, the European and American sanctions that targeted officials and official institutions in Iran in response to the brutal suppression of protests and executions carried out by the authorities, increased the obstacles in the way of trying to revive the nuclear agreement. It is true that there are officials in the current US administration, such as the official in charge of the Iranian file in the White House, Robert Malley, who tried to take advantage of the recent events in Iran, and uttered a torrent of criticism against the Iranian regime, but they did not “cut a ball of hair” as it is said, and they remained despite everything that happened inside the country. Iran, and out of the wave of international sympathy for Iran’s revolutionary women, youth, and uprising people in Baluchistan, Ahwaz, and Kurdistan – Iran is waiting for an opportunity to return to work with the pillars of the regime.--
It was remarkable that Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said two days ago to Iranian state television, saying that “the Americans preceded the Europeans in sending messages in order to return to the nuclear agreement” at a time when he responded to the European Parliament’s decision to demand the European Union (in which it is represented governments) by classifying the “Revolutionary Guard” as a terrorist organization with an escalating position in which it was considered that the Iranian Shura Council, i.e. Parliament, is studying the status of personnel and elements of European armies on Iranian terrorist lists.-
It is important to stop at Abdullahian’s assertion that Josep Borrell told him that the decision issued by the European Parliament was “emotional”, which means that Borrell downplayed the importance of the decision and ignored it in relation to the regime in Iran. And since the Iranians are good at blowing cold and hot at the same time, Abdullahian indicated in the same interview that “the other parties have no choice to mend relations with Iran except by returning to the nuclear agreement”!
Once again, Tehran is throwing the bargaining chip in front of the Europeans and the administration of President Joe Biden, while we believe that the agreement has died in Iran, while the West has not yet realized that Tehran will continue to use it as a tool of blackmail, in parallel with its frantic race against time to produce its first atomic bomb within a few months.
