Emirates News Agency – “Department of Community Development” participates in preparing the guide for domestic workers

ABU DHABI, 25th January / WAM / The “Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi” contributed to the development of the guide for domestic workers, which was launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.

The department has prepared the chapter that discusses psychological quality of life within the guide, which clarifies the concept of psychological quality of life and factors affecting quality of life, as well as various information that enhances the quality of life of domestic workers.
The guide focused on the rights, privileges and duties of the domestic worker and the importance of adopting practices that enhance the quality of psychological life for all members of society, including domestic workers, because of its direct impact on mental and physical health.
Her Excellency Dr. Laila Al-Hayyas, Executive Director of the Community Development Sector at the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi, indicated that the Department continues its cooperation with its strategic partners in order to strengthen the social sector system and implement initiatives and services commensurate with the requirements of society and its members in order to optimally deal with psychological stress.

She pointed out that the Department is constantly launching initiatives that support mental health within the framework of its primary role in providing quality and effective care and services for all to ensure the achievement of social welfare for all residents of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Al-Hayyas noted that the Department of Community Development is constantly striving to enhance societal cohesion and create a society that actively participates in building and development, by adopting long-term strategic plans and positive change aimed at eliminating all obstacles.
For his part, His Excellency Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Assistant Undersecretary for Domestic Employment, valued the efforts of the Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi and its keenness to contribute to the success of the guideline, stressing the importance of cooperation and integration between all concerned parties to improve the business environment in the UAE and develop the quality of life for an important group in society. It is the category of domestic workers.

His Excellency added: “The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation attaches great importance to strengthening cooperation with the concerned authorities, whether in the federal government, local governments or the private sector, in line with relevant decisions and policies, in its belief in the complementarity of roles, in accordance with the responsibilities entrusted to be implemented by all partners, leading to Achieving the directives of the wise leadership and meeting the aspirations of citizens, business owners and workers in the UAE.
The guideline for domestic workers touched on many aspects of concern to this segment, such as workloads, adapting to a new culture and environment, and spending enough time with friends.

The guide shed light on some important topics for domestic workers such as financial management, working times, and the importance of sleep to promote mental and physical health, while clarifying many appropriate instructions for all these aspects, in addition to providing ways to help improve the quality of life and control life stresses through methods of improving and enhancing the quality of life. Living and controlling life stresses through self-care, including eating healthy meals, practicing physical activities in free time, healthy sleep, allocating time for rest, deep breathing, seeking help from the spiritual side, participating in various activities with family members, and other things that help improve the quality of life and make it easier and smoother.
It is noteworthy that the Domestic Labor Law is keen on the safety of the domestic worker and enhances his sense of security throughout his stay in the country, by guaranteeing his various rights.

The guide prepared by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation provides the rights, privileges and duties of domestic workers and introduces them to the customs and traditions of society in the country, which thus contributes to enhancing the quality of life of this segment.
