Belgium 24- A bus transporting students from the Sint-Antonius School in Liedekerke (Flemish Brabant) who were returning from snowboarding lessons had an accident on the German autobahn last night.

According to the Liedekerke municipality’s assurances, students from a school in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw were also involved in the same incident. No students or teachers were injured. However, only the driver was taken to the hospital.

The accident occurred around 2:30 am on the A3 motorway near Höchstadt an der Aisch where road works were in progress.

The local police said that the driver of the bus, which was carrying 60 students, collided with the road safety device. He also sustained only minor injuries.

Meanwhile, the local authorities had to close the A3 motorway in both directions after the accident.

According to the 7sur7 report, all the children have been medically examined by the German emergency services and are currently being cared for in a gym, where they are given food and drink.

The newspaper also indicated that another bus is on its way to bring them home safely. They are scheduled to leave at 1pm and return at 8pm today.

All parents were also informed by CLB (the Flemish counterpart to PMS). Psychological assistance will be provided if necessary, both for children and parents.
