Major General Ashraf Al-Dawdy, Governor of Qena, presided over the periodic meeting with major merchants, distributors and agents of major companies, as part of the governorate’s efforts to follow up on the markets and the availability of food commodities at appropriate prices and work to solve any problems or obstacles in front of agents and merchants to provide commodities in appropriate quantities and ensure that the markets are not thirsty.

This came in the presence of Dr. Hazem Omar, Deputy Governor, Hossam Hammouda, Secretary General of the Governorate, Ahmed Al-Sayed, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply in Qena, Ragab Arafa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Drinking Water and Wastewater Company in Qena, Raed Haroun, Director of the Consumer Protection Agency, and Ali Gharib, Director of the Cooperation Department in the General Court of the Governorate. And representatives of the Chamber of Commerce in Qena, and major food and consumer goods merchants in the governorate.

During the meeting, the Governor of Qena directed, to implement the directives issued by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Minister of Local Development, of the need to tighten control over commodities and markets, through campaigns on all outlets selling food commodities to ensure the availability of all commodities and not to raise their prices, as well as alerting shop owners and markets to announce Price lists and showing them clearly to the public.

Al-Daoudi stressed that he would not allow any attempt to exploit citizens and make markets thirsty, especially since the state’s executive agencies provided all commodities and foodstuffs, in implementation of the President’s mandates, to control the general situation in the markets, and to alleviate the burden of citizens of all social classes.

The governor of Qena reassured the merchants about the availability of all kinds of food commodities in stores, outlets and markets, stressing the governorate’s keenness to expand the establishment of “Welcome Ramadan” exhibitions to sell basic food commodities to citizens at reduced prices and discuss the possibility of continuing them throughout the year, with the aim of easing the burdens on the shoulders of the simple.

The governorate and the local units provide major merchants with all the necessary facilities to hold exhibitions, including approving the places chosen by merchants in the cities of the governorate free of charge, as well as making the necessary preparations for holding the exhibition with the knowledge of the governorate’s Chamber of Commerce, with the aim of urging them to hold exhibitions and seeking to increase the goods offered to ensure the stability of their prices. And creating a state of commercial competitiveness between exhibitions and shops, and thus benefiting the citizen.
