The prices of building materials fell today, Tuesday, January 24, after skyrocketing iron and cement hits during the past days.
Despite the decline, prices are still high, and are not compared to the prices recorded a few months before the dollar crisis and the flotation that followed the economic downturn resulting from the Russia-Ukraine war.
The new prices, as presented by the electronic local prices portal of the Information and Decision Support Center at the Council of Ministers, are as follows:
Building materials prices today
– The price of investment iron in Egypt fell today, Tuesday, to 26678.38 pounds per ton, after rising yesterday to 27077.03 pounds per ton.
Today, Tuesday, the price of a ton of iron fell from Ezz El-Dekheila Company, to 27390.62 pounds, while the price of a ton rose yesterday to 27765.71 pounds.--
The price of gray cement also decreased today, Tuesday, to 1935.4 pounds per ton, after its jump yesterday to 1987.82 pounds per ton.
It is worth mentioning that iron prices in Egypt have increased by more than 3,000 pounds since the beginning of January, while they have increased by more than 8,000 pounds since last October.
The price of gray cement also recorded prices that had not been seen before, until its price touched 2,000 pounds until yesterday, Monday.
This is due to the rise in the price of the US dollar, and thus the increase in the cost of importing materials needed to manufacture iron and cement in Egypt.
