The Prime Minister during his meeting today to discuss the release of goods accumulated in the ports
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, held a meeting today, to follow up the mechanisms for expediting the completion of procedures and the exit of containers at the ports, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Moait, Minister of Finance, Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, Dr. Ehab Abu Eish, Deputy Minister of Finance for the Public Treasury, and Mr. Al-Shahat Al-Ghatouri, Head of the Customs Authority, and Dr. Mona Nasser, Assistant Minister of Finance for Follow-up Affairs, Project Management and Customs Development.
The Prime Minister started the meeting by pointing out that the government is currently working to accelerate the release of goods and merchandise at the various Egyptian ports, while ensuring that the pre-shipment system runs effectively, contributing to speeding up and facilitating the release procedures.
The total released of the goods is 1.5 billion dollars to date
Ambassador Nader Saad, spokesperson for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, stated that the meeting dealt with reviewing the current position of the policies accumulated in the ports, as well as the values of the goods registered within the Advance Cargo System (ACI), as well as the total of the goods released during the period from January 18 to January 23, 2023. , which amounted to more than 1.5 billion dollars.--
The official spokesman stated that the meeting witnessed discussion of some proposals and mechanisms that would speed up the completion of procedures and the exit of containers at the ports, including work to provide permanent technical support in the port in order to immediately solve any obstacles, and to hold training courses for customs employees in dry ports, while continuing permanent coordination between the authority Customs and port authorities, to work to overcome any obstacles regarding the handling of incoming goods.
The Prime Minister directed the formation of a joint committee from the Ministries of Finance and Transport, to develop a vision and plan to facilitate the completion of procedures and the exit of containers at the ports, as quickly as possible.
