Major General Muhammad al-Sharif, Governor of Alexandria, instructed all executive agencies and district heads to ensure that prices are controlled, the availability of all commodities in the markets, their validity, and their conformity with specifications. Al-Sharif said – in a statement today, Tuesday – that this comes to ensure that goods reach citizens at appropriate prices and appropriate quality so that no monopolistic practices occur, in addition to constant communication with citizens and taking all legal measures against those who manipulate prices.

In the Gomrok neighborhood, an extensive campaign was implemented to inspect commercial establishments to monitor prices, targeting Qasr Ras al-Tin Street. This resulted in the closure of two establishments, the issuance of 11 various reports, 13 warnings, the destruction of 15 kilograms of foodstuffs unfit for human consumption, and the imposition of immediate fines of 3 thousand pounds.

And in the Gharb neighborhood, an extensive campaign was carried out to inspect factories, warehouses, and facilities in the New Mansheya area, during which 25 kilograms of foodstuffs unfit for human consumption were destroyed, 26 various reports were issued, 3 facilities were closed, and fines amounting to 2000 pounds were collected.

And in the Wasat neighborhood, an enlarged campaign was implemented to monitor prices in markets and commercial stores, targeting (Merghani, Khedive, Salama Hijazi, and Martyr Umm Saber) streets and Al-Omda Street in Al-Hadra Al-Jadida, which resulted in the seizure of a transport vehicle in the Muharram Bek area for possession of 250 kg of local wheat, which is prohibited from trading, and 100 kg of rice. The source is unknown, and one of the shops in Al-Hadara area was caught selling rice at a price higher than the price.

In the second Montazah neighborhood, an enlarged campaign was implemented to monitor prices in the markets and commercial stores, which included (Al-Haramain, Al-Nabawi Al-Muhandis, Al-Jamiya Street, 25 Bahria and the Toson area), and 19 various reports were issued.
