The Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, confirmed that modern Russia has not witnessed “fighting with such ferocity,” referring to the war in Ukraine, stressing that his country has begun a process of reform and wide development of the armed forces.

In his first public comment since his appointment as commander of Russian forces in Ukraine on January 11, Gerasimov said that the new Russian military reforms take into account the possible expansion of NATO – by annexing Finland and Sweden – and the use of “the West collectively” Kyiv to launch proxy war on Russia.

Gerasimov indicated, during an interview with the Russian newspaper “Argumenti e Facti”, that today Russia and its armed forces are facing virtually all of the West, stressing that his country has not taken any partial mobilization measures since World War II.

Gerasimov said that the military reforms announced in mid-January were approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin and could be modified to respond to threats to Russia’s security, stressing that the General Staff is taking all measures to achieve the goals of the military operation in Ukraine, as well as to ensure military security. for the country.
