The Crown Prince of Kuwait receives the head of the resigned government


Kuwait – Mubasher: Kuwait’s Crown Prince Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received, this morning, Tuesday, Prime Minister Ahmed Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber.

The Prime Minister raised to the Kuwaiti Crown Prince the letter of the government’s resignation.

It is noteworthy that the Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly, Ahmed Al-Saadoun, announced, earlier this morning, Tuesday, that the session be adjourned and postponed until tomorrow, because the government did not attend.

It is worth noting that Kuwaiti Prime Minister Ahmed Nawaf Al-Sabah submitted yesterday the government’s resignation to the Kuwaiti Crown Prince. The outcome of the relationship between the executive and legislative authorities during the first regular session of the seventeenth legislative term of the National Assembly.

On the 10th of January The Kuwaiti government, represented by the Ministers of Oil and National Assembly Affairs, withdrew from the session. Objecting to discussing the report of the Finance Committee regarding the purchase of loans and dropping their interest.

The next day, the Council of Ministers held an extraordinary meeting, at Seif Palace, to review the proceedings of the National Assembly session held, and the government revealed that it had asked the Council to return reports to the relevant parliamentary committees to reach solutions, but it was unable to do so; Which forced him to leave the session.


The National Assembly conditioned the withdrawal of the report on the government submitting a binding commitment to achieving a number of requirements related to improving the standard of living.
