Ukrainian Defense Minister denies the price increase in purchases intended for the army

Kyiv / Ukraine in Arabic / The Ukrainian Minister of Defense denied the validity of what was reported by the media about the increase in prices during the purchase of foodstuffs for the army.

He wrote on his Facebook page: “The price of eggs ranges from 80 hryvnia to 90.6 hryvnia for 10 eggs from 7 suppliers of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.”

And he added: “Compare with the price in the supermarket now. I confirm that this is the fixed price for the whole of 2023 with the condition of delivery to Lviv or near Bakhmut. Only in the document published in the media, an abnormal price was indicated, its value is 17 hryvnia apiece What was built on the conspiracy theory.”

Reznikov emphasized that this was actually a simple technical error made by the supplier.

“Eggs are the only category in the product offering that is calculated by pieces in the appendix to the agreement. The supplier indicated the price not for pieces, but for egg weight when it transferred the data from one table, everything was converted to the unit of measure by weight for another table.

According to the standards, in a kilogram of eggs there are about twenty eggs, depending on the type (the weight of an egg according to the standard should range from 42 grams to 60 grams). And the price of 170 hryvnia per kilogram of eggs, 85 hryvnia for 10 eggs, fully corresponds to the market price and is within the standards of other suppliers. The “Bucarius Institute” recommended setting the price of ten eggs at 90 hryvnia, and all those who wished could weigh a kilogram of eggs and count the number of eggs.

Reznikov concluded that the Ministry of Defense did not buy eggs at 17 hryvnia per egg and does not plan to buy them at that price.
