While the Yemeni capital, hijacked by the Houthi coupists, suffers from the complete absence of cultural, lyrical and theatrical activities, and from hostility to music, after its theaters, cultural facilities, and cinemas turned into sites for spreading sectarianism and sectarianism, the activities of the first season of the “Aden Winter” festival began in Aden, the temporary capital of the country. ».
The festival, organized by the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism in the Yemeni government, in cooperation with the local authority in Aden, continues this week. It includes singing events, theatrical performances, cultural seminars, and competitions for children, as part of a wide government program aimed at restoring the city to its role as a pioneer in artistic and cultural activities.
According to the festival program, which Asharq Al-Awsat reviewed, the activities will begin with performances by the acrobats and playacho band in the Children’s Cancer Department at Al-Sadaqa Hospital, with a concert in the men’s hall, another in the women’s hall of the Psychiatric Hospital, and a third show by the band at the “Amal Foundation for Orphan Care”, and a show Similar with distributing gifts to children in the “Al-Firdaws Orphanage”, followed by the performance of the play “Singer next to the cymbals” by Mashael Aden Troupe in the “Mobility Handicapped Association”.
During the days of the festival, the Faculty of Arts at the University of Aden hosts an exhibition of popular performance arts, in addition to a direct drawing of the historical landmarks in the city, as well as a special corner for pictures of travelers about Aden, the corner of the Adeni House and the popular heritage, and a symposium on preserving the intangible cultural heritage of the city, and honoring university professor Ahmed Ali Al-Hamdani.
The cultural activities of the festival expand to the special cultural forums in the city, where the Bahisami Cultural Forum hosts a seminar on the late writer and poet Abd al-Rahman Ibrahim, while the Scarib Cultural Forum hosts a seminar on the life of the artist Abu Bakr Scarib, and the Adeni Cultural Center hosts a concert by the “Four Eden” band. » Youth, and the folk performance art troupe performs folk dances in the Hijaz market in the Mansoura district, before moving its show to the Al-Fal tour in the Crater neighborhood.
The events include cultural and artistic competitions for students of schools in the districts of Aden, artistic competitions for pioneers of the Miswat Children’s Library, and the Fine Arts Exhibition (Free Studio Artists), which is hosted by the Abdullah Badeb Library on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the first Plastic Arts Union.
A symposium will be held on the pioneers of Adeni lyrical poetry, such as Lutfi Jaafar Aman and Muhammad Saeed Jarada, and another on the famous Adeni song such as Khalil Muhammad Khalil, Yahya Makki and Salem Bamdhaf, and a symposium on the poet Abdullah Abdul Karim, and the same on the poet Ahmed Al-Jabri, and an artistic concert for the “Four Aden” band. » Youth in the Aden Cultural Center, and folk dances in several neighborhoods in the governorate’s directorates.
Among the activities of the “Aden Winter” festival, the final qualifiers will be organized for cultural competitions for school students in the governorate’s directorates, which will be hosted by the Raed Taha Theater, a seminar on the history of the theater, its pioneers and the children’s theater, another on the pioneers of the story and its history, a third on art in Aden, and a seminar on the life of Maestro Saeed Fanda, and the festival’s activities conclude with the play “I am the Great.”
This artistic and cultural movement in Aden corresponds to the Houthi militia’s continued restriction of freedoms in Sana’a, and the doubling of restrictions on women, as they recently decided to have women sit in Old Sana’a on the banks of the stream, or what is known as the “liquid”.
