The Turkish army sent military reinforcements to its bases in the countryside of Aleppo, northern Syria, within the areas controlled by the Syrian National Army, while a French delegation visited the Kurdish “Self-Administration” of the “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) in northeastern Syria.

Local sources told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that a Turkish convoy carrying heavy military equipment and cannons entered yesterday evening from the Bab al-Salama crossing to the Turkish bases in Azaz, north of Aleppo.

This came hours after Turkey conducted a joint patrol with the Russian army in Ain Al-Arab district, at the strip adjacent to the SDF-controlled areas, as the patrol toured more than 15 kilometers east of Ain Al-Arab, and toured 15 villages and towns.

This comes based on the Russian-Turkish understandings about the areas controlled by the “SDF” in northern Syria, and it is mentioned that the lines of contact between the two parties have been witnessing almost complete calm for weeks.

On the other hand, sources close to the “SDF” told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed about a visit made by a French government delegation yesterday to the office of the “External Relations Department” in the “Self-Administration” of the “SDF” in northeastern Syria.

According to the sources, who preferred not to be identified, the French delegation is headed by the official for crisis affairs in the French government, Stephane Romatet, while they were received by the co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department, Badran Jia Kurd.

According to a statement by the “Autonomous Administration”, the delegation discussed the files of the Turkish rapprochement with the Syrian regime, the Turkish bombing of the “SDF” sites, in addition to the file of the “ISIS” terrorist organization, and the political solution to the Syrian file, as well as files related to the economic and service aspects in the “SDF”-controlled areas. .

In addition, members of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham were killed and others wounded yesterday evening, as a result of artillery shelling by the Syrian regime forces on their positions in the Kafr Nuran axis in the western countryside of Aleppo, and a member of the regime forces was killed by a sniper on the axis of the town of Neirab in the eastern countryside of Idlib.

The regime forces also bombed with artillery the villages of Qalidin, Al-Ankawi, and Qastun in Sahl Al-Ghab in the western countryside of Hama, as well as the towns of Al-Bara and Kansafra in Jabal Al-Zawiya in the southern countryside of Idlib, without causing any casualties.

On the other hand, the newspaper, Al-Watan, affiliated with the Syrian regime, said that the latter’s forces engaged in clashes with ISIS cells yesterday, in the Tabqa area in the western desert of Raqqa, adding, quoting a field source, that “ISIS attacked a military point, taking advantage of the prevailing weather conditions, so it repelled They have members of the army, eliminated many of them, and forced the survivors to flee.”

Informed sources had reported to The New Arab yesterday that three members of the regime forces were killed and others wounded in an attack by unknown persons on a guard point of the Tabqa military airport, while the attackers fled, in the absence of any intervention by the regime’s warplanes, or the Russian warplanes.

Russia and the regime are rehabilitating Al-Jarrah Airport

On the other hand, Russia announced yesterday the restoration of the Al-Jarrah Military Airport in Syria, allowing it to be reused by the Russian forces or the Syrian regime forces in military operations, years after it stopped, after it was destroyed in battles with ISIS.

Al-Jarrah Military Airport is located in the Badia, east of Aleppo, 60 kilometers from the center of Aleppo Governorate.

Military sources from the regime’s areas told The New Arab that the regime and Russia recently reactivated the airport, and conducted joint parachute jumping exercises from helicopters, and deployed Russian air defense systems there, but the sources did not confirm whether the airport was suitable for take-off and landing of warplanes. Or just helicopter.

According to the same sources, Al-Jarrah Airport is located in a strategic area, as it is located near the administrative borders between the governorates of Raqqa and Aleppo, and is close to the line of contact between the areas controlled by the “SDF” and the regime.

She pointed out that the regime and Russia’s announcement of its reactivation is a kind of military propaganda, especially with the increase in Turkish air operations in northern Syria, noting that it is a small airfield that was designated for training and had only one runway and only a group of hangars.

According to the sources, if the airport is actually expanded, this may allow air coverage for large areas of the two governorates, in addition to being not far from the Syrian-Turkish border, and thus may reduce the flight distance after take-off and before landing.

The airport is a link between al-Tabqa military airport in the east and Kuweires airport in the west. Through these airports, warplanes can cover large areas of the desert, which extend over the area of five Syrian governorates: Aleppo, Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, Homs and Hama.
