I wrote – Marcel Nazmy:
Engineer Naguib Sawiris revealed his opinion on the movie “Gossip over the Nile” and wrote on his official account on Twitter: A masterpiece, we did not believe that it was allowed during the era of Abdel Nasser.--
Sawiris also re-shared a post by one of the pioneers of the Twitter platform, in which he said: “The 1971 film appeared on a story by Naguib Mahfouz that was written in 1966 about Nasserite society and the totalitarian political system.. It contains freedom and criticism as part of Sadat’s campaign against Nasserism.. A powerful film at the time and perhaps difficult to repeat. at other times.”-
And the followers interacted with him with comments about the story of the film and its disclosure of many crises in Egyptian society at the time, and they came as follows: “The Most Beautiful Days of Life”, “A mighty movie and every giant in it really excelled. Because Mervat Amin teaches acting”, and “Miramar comes as the greatest work of art that expressed the political situation in the Abdel Nasser period as a prelude to the defeat of 67, then Gossip over the Nile comes as the greatest work that expressed the political situation after the defeat of 67.”
Gossip on the Nile, based on a novel by the international writer Naguib Mahfouz, and directed by Hussein Kamal, tells of Anis Zaki, an employee of the Ministry of Health, but he is always unconscious. On the Nile, Anis becomes part of this group that lives in its own world far from the pain of reality.
