Recently published by Dar Al-Arabi for Publishing and Distribution as part of the publications of the Cairo International Book Fair, the book “The Future of the Palestinian Cause in Shadow of Israeli Settlement” by Dr. Wael Abdel-Hakim Rabie, and settlement is considered one of the most important issues that constitute the core of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Colonial studies since the mid-nineties of the twentieth century indicated that Colonialism is divided into two types, settler colonialism and exploitative colonialism. However, in the Palestinian case, we find that it is a third type, as settlements aim to erase the Palestinian presence and impede the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Through its pages, the book presents Israeli settlement plans and policies, and the positions of political parties and movements in Israel from 2000 to 2020, which aimed to establish a reality on the ground that would make it difficult for an independent Palestinian state to be established. Indeed, successive Israeli governments enacted laws and ratified them from the Israeli Knesset to legalize the seizure process. On Palestinian lands and forced displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

The writer confirms that the settlement policies continue, explaining that they vary only according to the directions of the Israeli governments, whether right or left. He also provides everything that needs to be known about the American peace plan known as the “Deal of the Century”, around which many questions revolve, including whether to complete these policies or legalize the status quo of the settlements. ? Did the American plan offer the establishment of a Palestinian state in a manner acceptable to the Palestinians, or did it come within the framework of “throwing ashes in the eye”?
