In detail, in more than one television interview, the artist, Suheir Ramzy, announced her regret for her participation in the movie The Sinners, in which she presented one of the most daring scenes of Egyptian cinema, which prompted the censors to prevent the film from being shown.

The ban came after many letters received by the People’s Assembly from Egyptians in Arab countries complaining that the events of the movie The Sinners harm the reputation of Egypt and Egyptians abroad.

In addition, the film included many daring sexual scenes, and the council referred these letters to the Minister of Information and Culture to take the necessary action. The minister’s decision was to ban.

The director of censorship at the time, Etidal Mumtaz, and ten of her employees were subjected to a disciplinary trial due to the release of the movie “The Sinners” by a decision of President Sadat, which was shown on September 22, 1976 in Rivoli Cinema in Cairo, and then removed from the cinema due to the presence of disturbing scenes in it.

The director and the staff were convicted of disciplinary provisions. The director was even dismissed from her position. The film was accused in the rulings of working to distort the image of Egyptian society because 75% of its scenes offend public modesty.

In a lawsuit, Suhair Ramzy accused director Saeed Marzouk of deceiving her and portraying her naked in the movie scenes, and that she did not intend to appear naked.

The events of the film center around a murder, the victim of which is an actress, and the investigations that extend to everyone connected to the dead woman, starting with her fiancé, who reported the crime, as well as all the people with whom the actress was connected, until the investigations also reach her branching relationships with several prominent and influential people in power.

The film was produced in 1975, based on the story of Naguib Mahfouz, screenplay and dialogue by Mamdouh Al-Laithi, directed by Saeed Marzouk, and starring a large group of stars, led by Imad Hamdi, Hussein Fahmy, Salah Dhu al-Faqra and Zubaida Tharwat.
