Yesterday, the star of the cycling team, Youssef Mirza, won a historic medal, the first for him in the mountain bikes category, and came a bronze in the Arab Championship currently being hosted by Egypt. This is the 44th medal for the UAE in the championship, as the team will finish its participation tomorrow, in the BMX race. Mirza became the only Arab cyclist in the championship who participated in all categories (road, track, and mountain bikes), and was crowned in all of them, winning eight medals.
The President of the Cycling Federation, Mansour Bouasaiba, expressed his happiness with the great achievement, and said in a press statement: “We had hoped that he would not participate in the race, but he insisted on participating and achieved a new achievement for the UAE.”
On the other hand, the first delegation of the cycling mission returned to the Emirates, the day before yesterday, through Dubai International Airport, and included the female and junior teams, and this evening the adult team, and a number of young cyclists, returned.
