We will not be silent about any targeting or injustice against the media

The Lebanese Press Editors Syndicate indicated that it was “surprised and surprised that the military court issued a ruling in absentia that imprisoned the journalist in the newspaper “Al-Akhbar”, colleague Radwan Mortada, in violation of the jurisdiction of the Publications Court, which is the special court to consider all cases related to Publications crimes in accordance with the provisions of Article 28 of Legislative Decree No. 177/104 as amended by Law No. 330 of 18/1994 which abolished pretrial detention for publications crimes and the imprisonment of journalists from most of its provisions.

And it explained in a statement that it “assigned its legal advisor, lawyer Anton Al-Huwais, to study this file, the possibility of appealing it, and the conduct of legal review methods in it. The Syndicate refuses to set a precedent for this decision. It will not remain silent about any targeting or injustice against media professionals.”
