The Saudi Public Prosecution orders the arrest of two suspects accused of assaulting male and female expatriates in a recruitment office


Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN)–The Saudi Public Prosecution has ordered the arrest of suspects accused of assaulting a group of male and female expatriates inside a recruitment office in Hafr Al-Batin Governorate.

On Tuesday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted a source in the Public Prosecution as saying that, based on what was submitted by the Parliamentary Monitoring Center regarding a video circulating on social media, including a citizen and resident assaulting a group of male and female migrants inside a recruitment office in Hafr Al-Batin Governorate, it was issued. An order from the Public Prosecution to arrest the two mentioned and refer them to the Public Prosecution.

The source confirmed that the Public Prosecution will take criminal measures against them, and will demand that severe penalties be imposed on them before the competent court.

The source explained that the Saudi penal systems “guaranteed judicial protection for individuals, and clarified the legal penalties for crimes committed against them, including the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law, which criminalizes those who abuse people for work or service and increases the penalty for them if they commit their crime against a woman.” or a group of people,” he said.

He stressed the need to inform the competent authorities when an incident of abuse occurred, whether the report was from the victim, or from witnesses to the incident.
