Food prices are still on an upward trajectory day after day, with the rise in the price of the dollar in the parallel market. And recently, through a tour of some retail stores, it was found that a kilo of beans costs 38,000 pounds. Likewise, a kilo of lentils became 60,000 Syrian pounds, while the price of 5 kilos of Italian rice amounted to 180,000 pounds.
So, in light of the winter season, the Lebanese have to pay about 100,000 pounds to prepare a soup meal that includes lentils and rice and is sufficient for one day, while the minimum wage is only 675,000 pounds.
