(CNBC) reported that Tesla CEO Elon Musk asked his employees to find ways to reduce the cost of delivering electric cars to customers, especially with the imposition of new restrictions in some ports and increased shipping costs.

Musk urged employees to look for ways to reduce the cost of delivering electric vehicles to customers, rather than speeding up orders to meet quarter-end sales targets.

Tesla, the electric car giant, has struggled this year to deliver new cars to customers in the US in line with originally promised timescales, with some customers delayed for months.

And the US network noted that Tesla is not alone in letting customers wait longer than they hoped to get their new, fully electric vehicles. Last week, Rivian notified people who booked the R1S, an SUV, of a delivery delay.
