Libya: Saif al-Islam Gaddafi excluded from the list of candidates for the presidential elections


Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The High National Elections Commission in Libya announced, on Wednesday, the preliminary list of candidates for the presidential elections andIncluded 73 filters, While 25 candidates were eliminated Among the applicants was the most prominent of them Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

The High Elections Commission said that it had excluded 25 candidates “for not meeting the conditions and not fulfilling the required documents.” The elections are scheduled to take place on December 24, 2021.

Last May, the country’s Supreme Court overturned the death sentence handed down to Gaddafi’s son on July 28, 2015.
