The African Champions League .. Raja shines, Wydad falls, and Al Hilal defeats the weather

Morocco’s Wydad suffered a surprise defeat in the first leg of the 32nd round of the African Champions League, against Ghanaian host Hearts of Oak, with a goal without a response (Sunday).

Wydad failed to return with a positive result from Ghana against Hearts of Oak, in light of the dangerous attacks of the hosts, which resulted in scoring the winning goal.

The events of the match witnessed protests by Wydad players, after they demanded a penalty kick that was not calculated, in addition to canceling a goal in the last minutes of the Moroccan team for offside.

The return match between the two teams will be held next Sunday, October 24, in the Moroccan city of Casablanca.

On the other hand, the Moroccan Raja team managed to achieve an easy victory over the Liberian Oilers 2-0, in the first leg of the 32nd round of the African Champions League, at the Marrakesh Stadium.

Hussein Rahimi scored the first goal for Raja, in the 22nd minute, and Mahmoud Bin Haleeb added the second goal from a ground shot in the 44th minute.

Raja will face Liberia in the second leg next Saturday (October 23rd) in Casablanca, Morocco.

The Sudanese Crescent defies the weather

In another match, the Sudanese Al Hilal drew away from Nigeria’s Rivers United, with a goal against a goal, in the first leg of the 32nd round of the African Champions League.

The Sudanese team advanced through Mohamed Abdel-Rahman “Al-Gharbal” in the 38th minute, and Rivers equalized in the second half in the 68th minute.

The events of the match witnessed heavy rain falling on the stadium in Nigeria, which caused Al Hilal to not score another goal, but it overcame the bad weather and was satisfied with a positive draw.

The return match will be held next Sunday in the new Suez Stadium in Egypt due to the Sudanese clubs’ unwillingness to receive any match on their stadiums.
