Tariq El-Shennawy: Amr Diab inspired some of his songs from the rule of “Takatak”

Critic Tariq El-Shennawy talked about the two stars Amr Diab and Mohamed Mounir that have dominated the singing scene during the last forty years, during his guest appearance on the “Ninth” program presented by the journalist Youssef El-Husseini on the Egyptian Channel One.

During the meeting, Tariq El-Shennawy said: “They did a very important thing. They entered into battles against anyone who rises. The one who emerges and succeeds succeeds, and I benefit from it. I understand why he succeeded. Even if you sing festivals or rap, or sing words that I can’t say, I can’t say, I understand every need.”

He added: “For example, Amr Diab benefited from tuk-tuk. If you follow tuk-tuk, you will always find written wisdom on the back of the tuk-tuk. This is a culture, and this culture you will find in festival songs, he took it towards him and presented it.”
