Amadou Haute, Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation of Senegal, reviewed during his session at the World African Business Forum, on the sidelines of “Expo 2020 Dubai”, Thursday, the efforts undertaken by Senegal to recover from the repercussions of the “Covid-19” pandemic and to continue the pattern of upward growth and the distinguished partnership that It links it with the UAE and the companies operating in it, especially with DB World.
“Senegal has had a close relationship with DB World since the start of its operations in the country in 2008, which resulted in the establishment of a pioneering port and free zone extending over 1,000 hectares in partnership with the Senegalese government and private sector companies there,” said Haut. Haute noted the partnership relationship that links Senegal with the UAE and its private sector and the logistical facilities it provides, as well as its distinguished location and ease of doing business from there.
With regard to efforts to strengthen the industrial sector in Senegal in light of “Covid-19”, especially the pharmaceutical industries, he said: “The pandemic forced us to work on developing the industrial sector and reconsidering our priorities and our absolute dependence on global supply chains in order to obtain our needs, especially in the areas of food. and medicine. We produce only 10% of our pharmaceutical needs, we have decided plans to produce 30% of our pharmaceutical needs by 2030 with plans to produce 50% in the future. This requires infrastructure reforms and work to attract more specialized investments in the pharmaceutical industries.”
