Saudi Arabia appealed to the UN Security Council to assume its political and moral responsibilities towards “obligating Israel to end the occupation and to withdraw completely from the occupied Arab lands.”
This came in a speech delivered by the Kingdom’s representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Yahya Al-Mouallimi, before the Economic and Financial Committee, which was held to discuss the item related to the economic and social repercussions of the Israeli occupation on the living conditions of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, and for the Arab population. In the occupied Syrian Golan, Al-Mouallimi called on the Security Council to assume its political and moral responsibilities towards obliging the Israeli occupation authorities to comply with international resolutions and laws calling for an end to the Israeli occupation and complete withdrawal from the occupied Arab territories, including the Syrian Arab Golan, and to stop the illegal exploitation of its natural resources .
Saudi Arabia also stressed, through its ambassador, that the right to development, self-determination and the right to life are among the most basic rights guaranteed by international law to all peoples of the world without exception, and that despite this, the Palestinian people are still deprived of their most basic rights.
She pointed out that “the Israeli authorities not only robbed the Palestinian people of their rights to development, but also robbed them of their right to build an independent, viable state that embraces their hopes and aspirations.” And the economic and social repercussions of the Israeli occupation on the living conditions of the Palestinian people and the residents of the Golan on their occupied lands, and the Israeli authorities’ continued violations of international resolutions, including General Assembly resolution 236/236, which calls on Israel to stop exploiting natural resources in the Palestinian land and the Syrian Arab Golan The occupier,” noting that “the successive and dangerous developments that the Palestinian cause is going through, and Israel’s disregard for international resolutions, express the Israeli tendency to abort all efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace, and to continue its violations against the Palestinian people, building illegal settlements, and exploitation the illegal natural resources on the occupied Palestinian territories, including the occupied Syrian Arab Golan.
He stressed that “achieving development in the Palestinian territories and the Syrian Arab Golan is closely linked to achieving peace, security and justice. It is not possible to achieve development and empower youth and women without finding a permanent, just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, and the economy cannot be advanced without the Palestinian people enjoying security and stability in His independent state, and injustice and poverty cannot be eliminated without achieving justice and giving rights to their owners,” stressing “the Kingdom’s firm and firm position in supporting the Palestinian cause, and finding a just solution to the issue that secures the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to return to their homeland.” Its full sovereignty over its natural resources, and its legitimate right to establish its independent state in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative submitted by Saudi Arabia, which laid out a road map for a final solution to all issues of the conflict, within the framework of the two-state solution and the establishment of the Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital
