Russia witnessed for the first time an increase of nearly 970 deaths in the death toll from the Corona virus within 24 hours, while the number of daily infections approached the threshold of 30,000 for the first time since last December.
Today, Saturday, the Operations Room for Combating the Coronavirus in Russia announced that it had recorded 29,362 new cases of infection during the previous 24 hours (compared to 27,246 cases the day before), which represents the second highest daily infection toll since the beginning of the pandemic and the highest toll since December 24.
The largest number of new infections is in the capital, Moscow (6,001 cases, the highest number in three months), the country’s second largest city, Saint Petersburg (2717 cases, the highest number since late January) and Moscow Province (1689 cases).
The death toll from the virus in the country witnessed a second unprecedented jump in a row, with 968 new deaths recorded during the last day, compared to 936 deaths yesterday.
And 21,049 patients in Russia have recovered since yesterday from the “Covid-19” disease caused by Corona.
In total, seven million and 746,718 confirmed cases of corona have been recorded in the country since the beginning of the pandemic, including 215,453 deaths and 6,840,845 cases of recovery.
To date, more than 196.2 million laboratory tests have been conducted in Russia to diagnose coronavirus infections, 584,000 of them during the last 24 hours.
