CranberryA farmer in the city of Bukayriyah in the Qassim region recounted how farmers in the region were able to grow the blackberry crop, which was not previously grown in the Kingdom.

In an interview with Al-Ekhbariya, the farmer said that clean energy and green houses helped farmers produce strawberries and blackberries, which farmers brought from Mexico in large quantities.

He added that strawberry cultivation began 7 years ago and coincided with the cultivation of blackberries, indicating that Qassim farms are currently feeding the local market with about 30 tons of blackberries and 15 tons of strawberries.

He pointed out that the harsh desert conditions and water scarcity did not hinder the cultivation of these two crops, but that farmers benefited from solar energy and modern irrigation techniques to overcome these difficulties.
