For his part, the Director General of the Saudi Building Code at the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Engineer Muhammad Al-Shammari, said during an intervention with the “Saudi Street” program on the “Saudi Arabia” channel, that some people took advantage of the Saudi Building Code and raised the prices of land, pointing out that the code would maintain the quality of the land. The construction cost is almost negligible.

He added that the buildings that were built before the date of application of the Saudi building code are mostly random and contain many problems, as they do not match the approved engineering standards, advising everyone not to engage in gossip that calls for fear of the building code and to go to the old buildings because they were established before the date 1/ 7/ 2021.

Regarding the fear of new fines for the Saudi Building Code, he stressed that they will suit the engineering offices, according to the new regulation issued a few days ago, indicating that it included an appropriate gradation, starting with a warning, then a warning, then a notice, and then imposing the penalty at a minimum.
