The agency noted that Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and the Syrian president discussed, during the call, “the relations of the two brotherly countries and ways to enhance joint cooperation in various fields for their mutual interests.”

On March 27, 2020, the first contact took place between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and the Syrian president since the outbreak of the civil war in Syria in 2011.
