Jordan crowned the West Asian title by defeating Saudi Arabia


The Jordanian under-23 team won the West Asian title on Tuesday evening, after winning against Saudi Arabia 3-1.

The home team advanced at Prince Muhammad Bin Fahd Stadium with a goal through Khaled Al-Ghannam in the 20th minute, and the Jordan team tied with Yazan Al-Nuaimat in the 28th minute.

In the second half, Nashami Jordan scored two goals through Youssef Abu Al-Jazar in the 76th minute, and then through Muhammad Abdul Razzaq Pogba in the 97th minute.

The Jordanian team achieved its first victory over Saudi Arabia since 1991 when the Jordanian Olympic team defeated its Saudi counterpart, who played in a squad that qualified most of its members for the 1994 World Cup.

The Saudi team qualified for the final by winning against Iraq with a goal in the semi-finals, and before that it beat Syria and Bahrain in the third group to lead it with six points, while the Jordan team rose to the final topping the first group with six points, and then beat the Syrian team 5-2 in the semi-finals.
