The brilliant Bayer Leverkusen this season will host Bayern Munich, seeking to win its tenth consecutive title in the German Football League, in the eighth stage matches at the “Bay Arena”, on Sunday, in a summit meeting to break the leadership partnership between them.

The winner of this confrontation will be alone in the first place, knowing that the Bavarian team is ahead of Leverkusen with a goal difference only, and each of them has 16 points. But if the match ends in a draw, Borussia Dortmund, stalking with 15 points, can grab first place, provided that it beats its guest Mainz 24 hours before, similar to Freiburg IV (15), which receives Leipzig seventh.

Leverkusen has shown consistency in the level since the beginning of the current season and won in its last three matches, providing wonderful offensive performances under the supervision of its Swiss coach, Gerardo Swan.

Leverkusen owes this level to its young playmaker Florian Wirts, who critics expect a great future for him, and has contributed this season by scoring four goals and five decisive balls, in addition to his Czech top scorer Patrik Schick, who scored 6 goals, which ranks second in the scorers list behind Bayern Munich striker Robert. Lewandowski and Borussia Dortmund’s Norwegian striker Erling Haaland.

Former Leverkusen and Bayern Munich player Ze Roberto Wirts praised the German magazine “Kicker”, “He has a spontaneous instinct to make one attempt after another when things do not go as he wants, and this is very important for success.”

The coach can also rely on influential Chilean midfielder Charles Arangues, who missed his country’s last match against Venezuela due to suspension and returned early to Leverkusen.

On the other hand, Bayern Munich wants to rise from the depression that witnessed a sudden fall at home against Eintracht Frankfurt 1-2 in the last round.

The Bavarian team is led by its top scorer, Lewandowski, who is strongly nominated to win the Ballon d’Or, which is awarded annually by the French football magazine “France Football”.

Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann Lewandowski praised and nominated him for the prestigious award, saying in an interview with the Bavarian newspaper “Ebendzeitung”, “Robert deserves to win it because, in my opinion, he has a stable and amazing level more than any other player.”

“He’s a dynamic player, he doesn’t get injured and he trains a lot. I support him to play for a long time at the highest levels,” the young coach added.

Nagelsmann’s words come at a time when La Bavarian club president Herbert Hainer played down rumors about the possibility of contracting Haaland to replace Lewandowski at the end of the current season.

However, Lewandowski did not score in his last two matches in the German League, and this has not happened to him for 22 months.

-Haaland returns-

On the other hand, Halland returns to the ranks of Dortmund after recovering from a thigh injury that kept him from the last two matches of his team and his country’s matches in the European qualifiers for the World Cup Qatar 2022 during the last international window, when his team receives Mainz at the “Signal Iduna Park”.

Freiburg, the only team that has not lost this season, is seeking to keep this record when it hosts last season’s runner-up Leipzig, which recently made a revival by winning its three matches in various competitions after a faltering start.

In other matches, Hoffenheim will meet with Cologne, Eintracht Frankfurt with Hertha Berlin, Union Berlin with Wolfsburg, Greuther Fürth with Bochum, Borussia Mönchengladbach with Stuttgart and Augsburg with Armenia Bielefeld.
