Afghanistan .. “Taliban” reinforces security measures in mosques

The “Taliban” movement decided to strengthen security measures in mosques, after the recent bloody attack that left at least 62 people dead in a Shiite mosque in Kandahar.

The Kandahar police chief, appointed by the Taliban, said in a recorded statement published today, Saturday, on his Twitter account, by the movement’s spokesman, Muhammad Naim, that the people of the area asked the new authorities to provide them with weapons to guard their mosque themselves.

He continued, “We did this, but unfortunately they were not able (to perform this task), so in the future we will assign special groups to guard such places.”

Friday’s suicide bombing in Kandahar came a week after a similar attack, according to some reports, that claimed the lives of more than 120 people in another Shiite mosque in Kunduz province.

ISIS claimed both attacks.
