Iron is a useful and essential mineral for the human body. However, at least 30% of people around the world suffer from iron deficiency in their blood, which causes them to have many physical and psychological problems.
Despite the prevalence of this health problem, many people are not aware of their infection, as the symptoms of iron deficiency are not known to everyone.
Fatigue and shortness of breath
In this context, nutritionist Rosie Millen said that the most important symptoms of iron deficiency are fatigue, shortness of breath, pale skin and heart palpitations.
Melin also pointed out to the British newspaper “Express” that because these symptoms are somewhat similar to the symptoms of fatigue, many people do not pay the required attention.
However, she stressed the need for a person to carry out the necessary tests to detect the level of iron and other vitamins in his body when he feels any of these symptoms.
What foods are needed to replace it?
Melin stressed that there are diets that exacerbate this problem, and they are systems that tend to not eat red meat at all, adding: “If people boycott meat, they should be careful to eat other foods that contain iron to compensate for its deficiency in their bodies, knowing The recommended daily iron intake is 8.7 mg for men and 14.8 mg for women.
She also explained that the most important foods that contain iron, besides red meat, are liver, beans, dried fruits, nuts, spinach, lentils, oysters and sardines.
She pointed out that the benefit of eating these foods will increase significantly when foods rich in vitamin C are added to them, as vitamin C helps the body absorb iron.
It is noteworthy that among the most famous foods rich in vitamin C are lemons, oranges, strawberries, broccoli, guavas, and peppers.
