Dr. Sawsan Salam, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Kafr El-Sheikh, stated that the medical teams, at the initiative of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to support the health of the mother and fetus, have provided medical services and conducted the necessary examinations for more than 50,000 pregnant women, since the launch of the presidential initiative on the first of last November.

The Undersecretary explained that the medical teams in the initiative provided medical services to 708 women this week, bringing the number of beneficiaries to 50,765 pregnant women in Kafr El-Sheikh governorate so far, noting that the initiative aims to reach a generation of children who are healthy and free from diseases transmitted from the mother. For the fetus, reducing mortality from those diseases.

Salam added, it targets pregnant women from the first day of pregnancy until birth, for early detection of various infectious diseases transmitted from the mother to the fetus and all diseases that can affect the health of the fetus, to prevent transmission to it, in addition to detecting sugar and pressure for pregnant women, stressing that Follow-up and treatment services are provided through the medical centers and health units in the governorate, and those who are discovered to be infected are directed and referred to receive the necessary evaluation and treatment in the referral hospitals specified in the governorate, according to the type of disease the mother has, in addition to activating and improving the quality of the routine services they provide within the protocol for the care of pregnant women through services Maternity and Child Care, noting that medical clinics and examination places are well equipped, and medical supplies are available in them, stressing the medical teams’ privacy in examination places, confidentiality of results, good treatment of women and a good reception for those reluctant to the presidential initiative.Salam confirmed that the presidential initiative to support maternal and fetal health aims to medical examination of pregnant women from Egyptians and non-Egyptians in the cities and villages of the governorate in the age group above 18 years, between education, awareness and medical examination, through a medical team trained on examination work, including “doctors, nurses, data entry personnel, and pioneers of rural areas”, with a total of 182 medical teams distributed in 11 departments.
