Today, Friday, the Ministry of Sports announced that Saudi Arabia will host the World Club Handball Championship “Super Globe 2021” for the second time in a row, in Jeddah, from 5 to 9 October.
10 clubs from different countries of the world will participate in the tournament, which will be hosted by King Abdullah Sports City, led by the representatives of Saudi Arabia, Al-Nour and Al-Wahda teams, as well as the Qatari Al-Duhail clubs, “Asia champions”, Danish Aalborg “Champions of Europe”, and the Australian University of Sydney, “Oceania champions.” Cal Heat San Francisco (Champion of North America and the Caribbean), Pineros of Brazil (Champion of South and Central America), Zamalek (Champion of Africa), Barcelona of Spain (Champion of the previous edition), in addition to the German team Magdeburg, which will participate at the invitation of the International Handball Federation.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports and Chairman of the Saudi Olympic Committee, said in a press statement: “We are happy once again to host the largest tournaments at the club level for handball, and with the participation of the continental champions for the second time in a row, which is an extension of the championships and events hosted by our dear country with the direct support of our wise leadership.” .
He added: “We wish all the success to our representatives, Al-Nour and Al-Wahda teams, in this tournament, and welcome to all the participating teams in their second country, Saudi Arabia. God willing, this version will appear at a distinguished technical level that will be admired by fans of this fun game.”
It is noteworthy that the city of Dammam hosted the previous edition in 2019, after Saudi Arabia won the hosting rights for four consecutive editions since 2019.
