A fan asked the Portuguese Joao Felix, the star of the Spanish club, Atletico Madrid, to deliberately injure his teammate, Frenchman Antoine Griezmann, while leaving the training headquarters on Thursday.
Griezmann left Atletico Madrid for Barcelona in 2019, and the French striker returned to the ranks of “Rokhi Blancos” hours before the end of the last summer transfer period on loan with a contract that extends until the end of the season, with the right to buy, based on the player’s desire.
One of the fans stopped Joao Felix while leaving Atletico Madrid training on his car, and told him: “Joao deliberately injured Griezmann and broke his foot, you cannot replace him.”
The fan added: “I hit him as if you didn’t do it on purpose… Griezmann’s Kasbah, Joao, don’t forget!”.
The strange request provoked Joao Felix, who replied wryly to the fan, saying: “You have to respect Griezmann more,” and then drove his car at speed.
Atlético Madrid had fallen into the trap of a goalless draw at home against its guest, Porto, in the match that brought them together last Wednesday night, at the start of the team’s campaign in the Champions League.
Griezmann entered Felix’s place during the match against Porto, which witnessed the French player’s first appearance at the “Wanda Metropolitano” stadium, but he was booed by the Atletico Madrid fans, who did not want to forgive him for the way he left the club to join Barcelona in 2019.
