Wall Street closes with gains, with the US Federal Reserve indicating to ease bond purchases soon | latest news

US stocks closed sharply higher on Wednesday, as investors calmly accepted the latest signs from… Federal Reserve Board, including making way for the central bank to reduce its monthly bond purchases soon.

However, trading was volatile following the latest monetary policy statement from the Federal Reserve, in which the US central bank indicated that interest rate increases may come at a faster pace than expected.

US stocks were already sharply higher ahead of the Fed’s statement as concerns about the financial problems of Chinese real estate giant Evergrande eased.

The Nasdaq Composite Index closed up 150.45 points, or 1.02%, to 14,896.85 points.
