US State Department: Washington’s envoy to Yemen visits Saudi Arabia and Oman to meet senior officials


The US State Department announced that the US special envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, is traveling to Saudi Arabia today, Wednesday, to meet with senior officials from Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

And the US State Department said – in a statement published on its website today, Wednesday – that Lenderking will then travel to the Sultanate of Oman to meet with senior Omani officials, adding that he will meet with the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg and the United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen. David Gressly and the ambassadors of permanent members of the United Nations Security Council to Yemen.

The State Department stressed that Special Envoy Lenderking’s efforts are focused on advancing a comprehensive peace process led by the United Nations and providing immediate relief to the Yemeni people, noting that he will continue to pressure the parties on the need for the regular and free flow of essential goods and humanitarian aid into Yemen.
