The National Theater pays homage to the late Dalal and Samir Ghanem

In an atmosphere fraught with feelings of appreciation and grief, the star Donia Smirghanim cried while receiving the honor of her late parents Samir Ghanem and Dalal Abdel Aziz, at the opening ceremony of the fourteenth session of the National Festival of Egyptian Theater, yesterday, Monday, in the Grand Theater of the Egyptian Opera House, and amid a storm of applause, the audience stood Salute to the two great departed. Donia cried while receiving the honor shield from the Egyptian Minister of Culture, Enas Abdel Dayem, and thanked the festival management for honoring and the audience for their love and support during their ordeal.

Abdel Dayem honored 10 stars from the creators of the Egyptian theater, starting with Ilham Shaheen, who gave a short speech in which she expressed her pride in her affiliation with the Egyptian theatrical entity. Emile Gerges, the great writer Bahij Ismail, the artist Sami Maghawry, who gave a short speech in which he thanked the director Samir Al-Asfoury, the late star Ahmed Zaki and the director Essam El-Sayed who helped him in his long artistic career, the artist Farouk Flux, who was received by the audience with a warm welcome. His happiness with the honor, and he called the audience to observe a minute of silence for the spirit of the departed theater artists, and thanked all the partners of his artistic journey. The great critic Amal Bakir also honored and received her honor, the poet and critic Mohamed Bahgat.

The ceremony began with a short show entitled “The Egyptian Writer” starring Hamza Al-Eli, then the star Sahar Al-Sayegh presented the opening ceremony, which witnessed a large presence of Egyptian art makers, including the festival’s president, artist Youssef Ismail, its director Ismail Mukhtar, the star Mahmoud Hemida, director Khaled Galal, head of the production sector. The cultural director, Dr. Jamal Yaqout, head of the “Experimental Theatre”, Yasser Sadiq, the head of the National Theater Center, the critic Dr. Aida Allam, and the artists Muhammad Abu Daoud, Mufid Ashour, Muhammad Riyad, Magdy Sobhi, Abdullah Musharraf, Ihab Fahmy, Ahmed Al-Silkawi and Amr Abdel-Aziz, and others.

50 percent increase in prizes

During her speech, the Minister of Culture announced an increase in the financial value of the prizes of the National Festival of Egyptian Theater by 50%, to be doubled in the upcoming sessions, in appreciation of the constructive role of theatrical actors in creating awareness and encouraging them to compete honest and creative. The governorates of the Republic within the initiative of the theater of confrontation and roaming.

It is noteworthy that the festival activities will continue until October 9, and the session bears the slogan “The Egyptian Playwright”, in which 33 theatrical performances will participate, and issues of theatrical text are discussed.
