The Riyadh International Book Fair will be held in its new session 2021 in early October (October), and Iraq was chosen as the guest of honor in the fair, which is one of the most important book fairs in the Middle East, with its activities, events, and great sales.
The Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority in Saudi Arabia seeks to provide a rich cultural content that preserves the gains of the exhibition and raises it to the level of the aspirations of the Ministry of Culture and the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in its cultural aspects.
Yesterday, the Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority announced the names of the winners of the Riyadh International Book Fair 2020 in its three tracks: “The Saudi Writer’s Award, the Publishing Houses Award, and the Entrepreneurship Award in the Publishing and Information Industry”, for which 240 participants competed, including 170 writers for the course. The Saudi Writer Award, which included several fields of knowledge, including: “Philosophy, the Saudi author, general knowledge, religions, pure sciences, social sciences, languages, applied sciences, geography, history, arts and literature.”
The prize in the “Saudi Writer” track was won by: Abdullah Nasser in the literature track, Ahmed Musharraf in the general knowledge track, Khaled Al-Hamidi Al-Mutairi in the geography and history track, Dr. Suleiman Al-Jaloud in the applied sciences track, and Dr. Al-Jawhara bint Fahd bin Khaled Al Saud in the track The social sciences track, while the prizes were withheld in the philosophy, religions, languages, pure sciences, and arts tracks, because the applicants did not meet the conditions of the award.
In the Entrepreneurship Award in the Publishing and Information Industry, the entrepreneurial project, Book Chino, received the award for achieving the nomination criteria in terms of the date of establishment, number of digital products, project performance indicators, number of sales during a year, diversity of services or products, in addition to the number of awards received. Previously had the project. While “Dar Athr” won the publishing house award in the local publisher track, and “Dar Al-Saqi” in the Arab publisher track.
The authority confirmed that it is working to develop the internal standards for the new cycle of the award, to keep pace with the most important international book fair awards, and to add new innovative tracks, such as including a track for children’s literature, and a track for owners of literary blogs specializing in reading activities.
The authority had launched the first cycle of the Book Fair Award in January of the year 2020, and the winners were to be honored last year during the Riyadh International Book Fair 2020, but the exhibition was postponed due to the circumstances of the emerging Corona virus pandemic.
