Brazilian football legend Pele on Saturday congratulated Argentine star Lionel Messi after the latter broke the record recorded in the name of the “King” for the most international goals in the South American continent, and at the same time apologized for his delay in praising him for undergoing surgery to remove a colon tumor in a Sao hospital. “I couldn’t miss the opportunity to congratulate you on setting a new record earlier this month. Your talent is incredible,” he added.
Pele wished that Messi would score “more” alongside Frenchman Kylian Mbappe and his compatriot Neymar in his new Parisian club.
Pele, 80, is still in a hospital in Sao Paulo, and according to one of his daughters, Kelly Nascimento, who wrote on her Instagram account Friday, that her father had “come several steps” in recovery.
