Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, said it wanted to join the Oneworld alliance of airlines.

“Reuters” agency quoted a representative of the company as saying that it is keen to join the alliance, which includes 14 airlines, including “Qantas” (Australian Airlines), “American Airlines”, “British Airways” and “Cathy Pacific”.

The company added that “Oman Air” contacted “Qatar Airways” to obtain guidance on preparing a strong presentation of the company’s activities and its strategy for a successful application.

Qatar Airways, whose CEO Akbar al-Baker is currently at the helm of the alliance, has direct and indirect stakes in three companies that are members of the oneworld alliance.
