Dr. Firas Badr said that cardiovascular diseases, such as heart attacks, are not limited to the elderly category only, but also attack young people.

The specialist in the Heart and Vascular Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi explained that the factors that raise the risk of cardiovascular disease in young people are abdominal obesity, diabetes, smoking, high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels.

Dr. Badr pointed out many misconceptions about heart health, as many believe that being in a good level of physical fitness or having a normal BMI makes them immune to heart disease.

In fact, a person can have an ideal weight, but have a high level of cholesterol; Because he smokes, which is a common problem among young people or a person may have a high percentage of abdominal fat as a result of a diet full of processed foods, all of which can negatively affect heart health.

In addition, some people often overlook the role that family history plays in increasing the risk of heart disease.

Dr. Badr pointed out that young people can maintain the health of their hearts and prevent cardiovascular diseases and prevent their development by conducting regular examinations starting from the age of 20 years or before if they have a family history of heart disease, keenness on physical activity, and following A healthy diet.
