The German Jurgen Klopp, coach of the English football team, Liverpool, has raised more controversy and contradiction regarding the Reds’ negotiations to renew the contract of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah.
Salah’s contract, 29, with Liverpool expires in the summer of 2023, and many reports claim that there is a crisis between the player and the club in renewal negotiations.
Klopp said, during the press conference on the eve of his match against his guest Crystal Palace, in the fifth round of the English Premier League: “Renewal negotiations with Salah? There is nothing to say .. especially from my side. I am not involved in these matters.”
He added, “I’m only interested in how fit Salah is. He’s working properly and looking good. There’s nothing else to say.”
Klopp contradicted himself with these statements, after being asked last month whether he was participating in renewal talks with Salah, and he said at the time: “Yes, I participate in almost everything in the club.”
He added at the time, “Perhaps some conversations will happen without my presence… It is possible, but apart from that, I know all things.”
