Brazilian football legend Pele continues to recover from colon surgery, and his family released a video of the 80-year-old smiling while undergoing physiotherapy in his hospital room in Sao Paulo.
The former Santos, Brazil and New York Cosmos player underwent surgery to remove a colon polyp on September 4 and left the intensive care unit at Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo in the following days.
His daughter Kelly posted a video of the former Brazilian player doing foot exercises on her Instagram account.
Nicknamed “King of the Ball”, Pele was accompanied by two physiotherapists, one of whom was the daughter of the former Brazilian player.
“Today we took two steps forward,” Kelly wrote, referring to an earlier post in which she told fans that her father’s recovery process often takes two steps forward and then takes a step back.
Pele, the only player to win the World Cup three times, has struggled with hip problems in recent years and cannot walk without assistance.
He did not appear much in public even before the COVID-19 pandemic and left his home near Santos a few times.
